This page includes information about the following:

  • WIFI
  • Television
  • BluRay DVD player
  • Bose sound System
  • Sonos sound System
  • Oven

WiFi

The WIFI router is located in the Greyhound Room: the twin room at first floor level. The network to connect to is called BTHub6-5NS2 and the password is HnYNXtXLuL6K.

Television

We have a remote control for the TV and DVD player plus some films for you to enjoy located in the bookshelves in the main lounge.

The TV has a Netflix subscription, accessed by going to the main menu and selecting Netflix.  This will already be logged into the house’s account.

The TV in Old Red Lion has more capability than we know what to do with so rather than trying to explain it all, the manual is attached here.

BluRay

The BluRay player will play BluRay disks and DVDs.  There are a number of both in one of the shelves where the books are in the ground floor living room.

When the BluRay is turned on, the TV will detect it and play the inserted disk once you press play on the BluRay remote or on the unit itself.

BOSE Sound system

This is located in the upper sitting room in the left corner by the window. This can be connected into either using a wire, over the wifi system or via Bluetooth. Regardless of your method of connection, you will need a source of music; either that stored on your device or a streamed music service such as Spotify.

The wire connection can be a cable from your phone that plugs into the Bose unit. Once plugged into your phone jack, select ‘Aux’ on the Bose unit and press play on your device. The music will then play via the Bose speaker.

The system can be controlled using an App (the SoundTouch App available for Apple and Android devices). Once this app is installed, ensure that your device is connected to Old Red Lion’s network and launch the app. Follow the instructions on the app to connect to the device.

Another way to connect is via Bluetooth using a device with this capability. First, you need to pair your device with the Bose system. Press and release the AUX button until the Bluetooth indicator blinks blue. Open your Bluetooth enabled device and turn on the Bluetooth feature. Select Bose ST 10 from the list and your device should pair. You can now play music to stream to the Bose system.

If you are unable to connect via Bluetooth, you may need to clear the pairing list from the Bose system; press the AUX button for 10 seconds until the Bluetooth indicator double-blinks white. You can then repeat the process described above for pairing a device.

SONOS Sound system

This is located in the main downstairs lounge under the TV.

The Sonos system can only be connected to via the Sonos app, or a streaming app that allows direct control such as Spotify. Please note, it is not possible to connect to this system via a cable.

In order to use the Sonos system, you will need to have music already downloaded onto your device, or have access to a music streaming service such as Spotify, Apple Music or Amazon Music.

To connect to the Sonos speaker, ensure that you are connected to the house’s WIFI system. Open the Sonos app and select “Setup New System” then follow the instructions on the screen. The system at Old Red Lion House is called ORL Living Room.

It is now possible to control the Sonos speaker directly from Spotify; open your Spotify settings and List Devices. The ORL Living Room device should be available to connect to.

The Oven

There are two ovens and a grille in the range unit; a fan oven in the bottom left corner and a tall oven to the right. The latter works using the dial on the right; simply turn this to the required temperature.

The fan oven is controlled with two dials. The one on the left select the function. Please note that the first ‘click’ clockwise of this dial just turns on the light. Turn it further to make heat available. You then need to turn the dial to the right of this to set the temperature. When the oven has reached the desired temperature the red light will go out.

You may find that the fan oven doesn’t appear to want to heat up. This is because the clock has been adjusted (don’t ask – I still don’t know why it does this although it may have something to do with a timer). Simply turn the knob on the clock back to zero and the oven will start working.
