Choices, choices, choices….where to eat in Blandford Forum?

The beauty of staying in a market town for your holiday or weekend break is that you are spoilt for choice when it comes to eating and drinking! Why stick with the one and only village pub when there are four to choose from? In addition, Blandford Forum has a range of fabulous tea houses and coffee shops, cafes, restaurants and places for a quick bite to eat.  Below we’ve listed some of those that we’ve tried so far:

The Crown Hotel has been providing food and accommodation in Blandford Forum for 230 years.  From breakfast to lunch, dinner and cocktails they have a menu for every occasion.  See The Crown Hotel.

Serving some awesome cakes and great coffee, you’re guaranteed to be looked after by the friendly staff at the Forum Café, up Salisbury Street and on the corner of The Plocks.

Another superb café in Blandford Forum, the Yellow Bicycle Café brings a dash of city panache to the market town with its stylish yet delicious food and helpful staff. Go to town on their great pancakes, chill out with their hummus and homemade bread, or feast on homemade sausages.

Have a hankering for Italian food?  You have a couple of choices in Blandford Forum with Prezzo on East Street (the road that joins Market Place from the east) or Vecchia Roma down Georgian Passage (diagonally opposite the east end of the church).  Whilst not likely to win any awards for interior design, Vecchia Roma serves simple but great food which always reminds us of a trip we had to Italy many years ago.  Prezzo is part of a small chain but don’t let that put you off; their pizzas are always enjoyed by our boys and we love the pasta dishes.  The smart restaurant always seems to be buzzing and is popular with locals and visitors alike.

How about a takeaway? Namaste Gurka has a small and basic restaurant but produces consistently good food if you fancy something spicy.  Just be sure to check what the chilli rating of your chosen meal is; some have quite a kick!
